Structural steel for an existing lift shaft at UEA
We're proud to have completed the structural steel frame for an existing lift shaft at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich.
Fabricated in Rackheath
Our team fabricated the red-primed steel frame in our Rackheath workshop to BS EN 1090 EXC2. It was UKCA marked and came with a Declaration of Conformity. Working to EXC2 means every stage, from material traceability to the welding itself, is controlled and recorded. Our in-house Responsible Welding Coordinator oversees that quality.
Precision installation on site
Once fabrication was complete, we carried out the site installation. We carefully positioned the frame and bolted it to the existing concrete structure, giving a robust and accurate interface for the lift works. On a job like this, accuracy matters. The frame has to line up with the existing structure so that the lift contractors can do their part without problems.
What we do best
This type of work is exactly what we do best: structural steel from design through to installation, delivered with full traceability and quality control. It was a great project on a well-known Norfolk campus. Thanks to everyone involved on site for the smooth coordination.
